Helping Kids with Physical Disabilities Succeed

About us

Easter Seals Ontario has been a leading provider of programs and services for children and youth with physical disabilities since 1922. The organization is a registered charity committed to empowering individuals with physical disabilities to reach their full potential and make their own positive impact on the world. We believe that the hardest limitations aren’t physical, and with the right resources and support, anything is possible. With our programs and services, we aim to create a more inclusive and accessible society where kids with physical disabilities are valued, respected, and given the opportunities they need to succeed. Easter Seals offers a wide range of programs and services, including mobility and accessibility equipment funding, fully accessible summer camp, post-secondary scholarships, youth ambassadors, and advocacy and public awareness. We are grateful to our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff who have made it possible for us to continue helping individuals with disabilities reach new heights. Together, we are building a society that sets goals, not limits, for people with disabilities.

Meet Matthew! As a baby, Matthew was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy that causes seizures when he sleeps. Now 13 years old, he continues to experience these seizures. Despite his condition, Matthew enjoys having fun and moving around like any other child, enjoying walks with his family using a wheelchair outdoors and a walker indoors. Because of Matthew's condition, he is non-verbal and relies on various devices to support his mobility throughout the day. Thanks to the generosity of Easter Seals donors, Matthew's mom, Melanie, was able to buy a new stairlift that enables him to move safely and comfortably on the stairs. “It has been a huge, huge change. We would always have to worry about getting him upstairs by a certain time in case he started to get tired, or he would have to miss out on parts of his daily routine if we couldn’t get him upstairs.” The new stairlift enhances Matthew's safety and removes barriers. “Now when it’s time for bath, he hops on and we bring him upstairs.” Thanks to donations, Matthew's family can stay in their familiar home, making his life easier and safer. Together, we can continue to make stories like Matthew’s possible, truly #HelpingKidsBEKIDS! #EasterSealsOntario #Accessibility #Disability
